| New Data-Over-Voice service option (ISDN DOV): |
|
Eon
Technology has just introduced this special access to those who
are unable to obtain ADSL services for the time being, yet wish
to have a reliable cost-effective and fast connection which is
faster than what they currently obtain from a standard analogue
56K modem connection. Being a digital service you get fast connections
(typically 1-2 seconds) and constant bandwidth - 64K or 128K. No
more waiting while dialing in to access the internet!

any carrier of any ongoing differential between voice and data tariffs
is not guaranteed by EON Technology, and users who purchase one of ISDN
modem products must do so on this understanding.

 |
| What is it? |
ISDN
DOV can be used with Telstra's OnRamp Home Highway (ORHH) product
- also now known as OnRamp Home. ORHH provides a true digital link
all the way from a telephone exchange to your house across a copper
pair and provides you with two standard telephone lines. By using
a NETjet-S or ISDN Mouse in conjunction with
ORHH, you can use ISDN DOV (data-over-voice) and take advantage of
the price differential between the voice and data tariffs of ORHH. |

|
| What are the full costs of implementing ISDN DOV? |
Let us assume
that you currently have a 56K modem and an account with EON, and
you have 2 problems. Firstly, you are unhappy with the speed
of your 56K modem, and secondly you have to compete for time on your
telephone line whenever you wish to access the internet.
There
are several once-off setup costs plus ongoing costs when choosing ISDN
DOV, as with other technologies for accessing the world-wide-web. These
are:
- Getting
a Telstra ISDN OnRamp Home Highway line installed.
To upgrade your existing single telephone line, the installation cost
for Onramp Home Highway is $173 *
Benefit : You get 2 standard
telephone lines down the one cable, plus
the option to use ISDN DOV for data transfers
at 64K or 128K.
Note : as ISDN DOV uses synchronous digital transmission, your effective
throughput is 70% higher than the best performance achievable from
an analog 56K modem. Or at 128K, you get a 270% improvement.
- Adding a NETjet DOV modem to your computer
RRP $267 inc GST - NETjet-S PCI ISDN modem or
- RRP
$249 inc GST - NETjet ISDN Mouse USB modem
Benefit : You can make DOV
calls at the full ISDN digital 64K or 128K
speeds, for the cost of a 1 or 2 standard
telephone calls.
- Home Highway ISDN Line Rental
$34.70* per month includes 2 lines/channels - (current Telstra tariffs
correct at this time).
Benefit: For an extra line
rental, you can share 2 lines between telephone
calls and computer connections eg. 2 voice
calls, 1 voice call and a 64K DOV call, or
a 128K DOV call.
- Calls costs to EON.
For each 64K ISDN DOV call, your call costs will be 18 cents* per call untimed. Or
36 cents* for a 128K call, untimed.
Benefit: For example, if
you make one 64K call per day to EON (for
as long as you like without being disconnected),
for 30 days at 18c/call, then the total call
costs = $5.40 per month.
Or if you make one 128K call per day, for 30 days at 36 cents/call =
$10.80 per month.
- ISP Charges
DOV64 (64K connection) is $45.00 per month, 6 hours
minimum online time and unlimited incoming traffic (subject
to our Reasonable Use Policy), DOV128 (128K connection)
is $80.00 per month, 6 hours minimum online time and unlimited
incoming meggage (subject to our Reasonable Use Policy). Plus
$25 for once-off setup fee. No setup fee is applicable if any
of the ISDN DOV modems are purchased from EON at time of setting
up the account.
* = +GST
In summary, once you install OnRamp Home
Highway and a NETjet-S DOV modem, the only
additional cost over and above a 56K modem
is for the rental of the second telephone
line, which you may want anyway.
For this you get rapid (1-2 seconds) connection, consistent 64K or 128K
performance, fast ping times, error-free connections and access to a
second telephone line.

| Reasonable
Use Policy: |
We
do not have a "hard limit" monthly meggage for incoming
data (with the exception of the Club75 Account) - what this means
is that we set a "soft limit" for each particular account
type, you use whatever you want during the month, and if you
exceed the "soft limit" before the end of the month,
we advise you via email that your usage has passed that limit.
When this happens, we will either slow your connection to us whenever you
get online thereafter OR restrict your access to only EON hosted domains
which might mean that you will not be able to get outside of EON's network
but will be able to send or receive your emails. This will last until the
end of the month when the counter is reset and a new cycle begins.
It means that if the "soft limit" is exceeded by a greater amount,
then the restriction imposed will be greater.
By this method of resource sharing, our Reasonable Use Policy hopefully
will reduce your cost of internet access without the penalty of fear of
being charged extra when you occasionally exceed the limit.
DOV accounts have a guaranteed minimum connection time of 6 hours, no disconnection
during off-peak hours and after the 6 hours of online time, disconnections
may occur ONLY because ALL DOV lines are FULL. For a preview as to what
DOV can do for you please click here for
more information.
EON Technology reserves the right to withdraw this policy at its own discretion
without prior consultation.
